A. Arunachal Rang Mahotsav is a vibrant and culturally significant international theatre festival - the first of its kind in the history of the region it is rooted in. This initiative by Roots Art and Cultural Trust aims to promote the heritage, arts, and culture of Arunachal, as well as provide exposure, proper training, and a platform to showcase the artistic prowess of the people of Arunachal Pradesh. and facilitate national and international cultural exchange.

Getting there

By Air:

Nearest Airport: Donyi Polo Airport, Hollongi (Itanagar Airport)

Located just 15 km from Itanagar, Donyi Polo Airport is the most convenient option for air travellers. It offers direct flights from major cities like Delhi, Guwahati and Kolkata, making your journey to the Arunachal Rang Mahotsav quick and easy. Taxis and pre-arranged transport are readily available at the airport for a smooth transfer to the festival venues, which are 40-50 minutes away by road.

By Train:

Nearest Railway Station: Naharlagun Railway Station

Located just 15 km from Itanagar, Naharlagun Railway Station is the closest rail connection for travellers. With regular trains from major cities, including a direct line from New Delhi, getting to the Arunachal Rang Mahotsav is convenient and comfortable. Taxis and local transport options are available at the station to take you directly to the festival venues, which are about 35-40 mins away.

By Bus:

Travelling to Itanagar by bus is an affordable and scenic option for festival-goers. Both state-run and private buses operate regular services from key cities such as Guwahati, Tezpur, and other nearby towns. These buses provide a comfortable journey through the picturesque landscapes of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, making your trip to the Arunachal Rang Mahotsav both enjoyable and convenient.

From Guwahati: Buses depart frequently, covering a distance of around 320 km. The journey typically takes 8-9 hours, offering a great opportunity to experience the diverse beauty of the region.

From Tezpur: Located about 260 km from Itanagar, Tezpur offers regular bus services that take approximately 6-7 hours.

Both public transport services such as the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) and Arunachal Pradesh State Transport (APST), as well as private operators, ensure multiple travel options. Book your tickets early to secure a seat, and enjoy a hassle-free trip to the festival!

Entry Requirements: Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Arunachal Pradesh

Please note that Arunachal Pradesh falls under a restricted area, and all visitors (except residents of the state) are required to obtain an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for entry. The ILP is a simple and routine process for tourists, so there's no need to worry—getting one is quick and hassle-free!

Indian nationals can apply for an ILP online at http://arunachalilp.com/
Foreign nationals can apply for a Protected Area Permit (PAP) online at https://indianfrro.gov.in/eservices/home.jsp

Physical permits can be obtained from the Secretary (Political), Government of Arunachal Pradesh, as well as from the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner in various districts. You can also get an ILP from the Resident Commissioner's Office, Deputy Resident Commissioner, and Liaison Offices in major cities. What to Pack

Clothing

Warm Clothing: November in Itanagar can bring cool mornings and chilly evenings. Be sure to pack:
